Gender

With the supported obtained from Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA/SIDA project) the following activities were accomplished.

•  Participatory baseline survey on Socio-economy and HTPs was undertaken,
•  Under the facilitation of the kebele Task Force members and ODA staff community awareness raising meetings, conferences, discussions on Women’s Rights and GTPs was undertaken  and totally in 24 kebeles 20,218 persons (6298 women & 13,920 men) have participated at the locality/kebele level on Gender issues and HTPs

• Traditional Law Making ceremony on HTPs was colorfully celebrated for two days (i.e. on February 11 & 12, 2006) at Debre Tsighe and Fital towns of Debre Libanos and Yayya Gullelle weredas

• Information collected from communities illustrated that, there are encouraging signs of the reduction of HTPs, which isa good sign of success and encourage all stakeholders to continue working hard to fulfill the objectives of project.
